History
Named for a local doctor, Thomas Hernando DeSoto Stewart, in 1847, DeSoto is one of the oldest settlements in the area. The area began to grow after World War II. The city’s growth continued through the 1980’s and 1990’s. The City’s planned developments, like the DeSoto Town Center, created unique business districts and continued the city’s growth.
