History
In the 1800s the Beeman family settled a 40 acre tract outside of Dallas. This eventually became a larger community with the arrival of the railroad and workers. During this time, William H. Gaston also began promoting the area for development to bring in more families. East Dallas became incorporated as a city in 1882. Schools arrived in 1883 with an all brick schoolhouse being built in 1886. Further growth came through the opening of the State Fair of Texas and Dallas Exposition at Fair Park.
